Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Community Ashford, Kent (SGNCAK) celebrates Nepalese New Year 2075 BS
The new year celebration party, one of the community’s annual events, took place in St Simon Church Hall in Ashford Kent on Saturday, 14 April 2018.
The event started with a welcoming speech of the Chief Vice, Mr Kaprasad Chhyantal, followed by New Year wish from the Chairperson, Mr Chakrabahadur Rai and presentation of certificates of appreciation.
All executive members of the community were newly elected in March and the outgoing Executive Members who had completed their tenure were presented with the certificate of appreciation for their service to the community.
The second phase of the event was entertainment consisting of cultural programme and cocktail dance. The cultural programme was led by the Cultural Secretary, Mr BC Rai.
The Nepalese New Year, a solar calendar that is 57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar, falls in mid April and BS (Bikram Sambat) is the official calendar used in Nepal.
Attendance were very impressive massive and everyone seemed to be enjoying the event to its full extend until the programme ended at 11 pm.
