Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Ashford Kent (SGNCAK) celebrates Nepalese New Year BS 2080 in St Simon Church Hall on Friday, 14 April 2023
The celebration party, coordinated by Chiran Rai Vice and Shikhar Limbu Chairperson Youth, took place in the St Simon Church Hall from 6 to 11 pm.
The event had split into two phases, formal and entertainment, and were led by the General Secretary (Ram Prasad Limbu) and the Chairperson Youth (Shikhar Limbu) respectively.
The programme started with lightening the candles on stage by the Chairperson Dammar Limbu and the Chief Guest – the President of the NRNAUK, Prem Gaha Magar who talked about the “continuation of the Nepalese-Citizenship for non-resident Nepalese and the work he has been committed to” while he delivered his speech at the event.
Due to the COVID-19 restriction, the community was not able to welcome the new members as the community was unable to hold such an event in the past.
There were 56 new members since then and were called upon the stage to be presented with the Khada by the Chairperson but only a few members were present on the day.
Prior to the entertainment phase, the Chairperson’s new year wish and his conclusion of the formal programme was followed by the unveiling of the Music Video of the Ex Vice-Chairperson (founding) Narendra Rai featuring himself in the video and was dedicated to his beloved mother who had passed away recently.
The Cultural Secretary, Om Magar and the coordinator team’s hard work was paid off well as the team presented numbers of the live songs and dances on the stage that made the entertainment phase so live and entertaining! List of the artists can be found below.
