Sapana Roka Magar, listed in BBC’s 100 inspiring and influential women from around the globe for 2020, visited Ashford, Kent and shared her experience.

She works in a crematorium and provides traditional Hindu funeral rites for abandoned and unidentified deceased bodies performing Dagbatti rituals at the Pashupati Aryaghat, on the banks of Bagmati river, where deceased bodies are cremated, in Kathmandu.

Despite a very short notice, the Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Community Ashford Kent (SGNCAK) managed to organize the programme where the members of the community who were present at the event, had an opportunity to greet and meet her in the Community’s office on Sun, 28 Jan 24.

The Chairperson, Dammar Limbu, presented a cheque of £501 to Sapana as a token of love that was collected among the members at the hall, and expressed his sincere gratitude to all members giving a special thanks to the Chairman of the Magar Association UK, Mrs Sita Pun, for making this event happen.
